Its Hot Cocoa Day! Lets celebrate! Domesticated by the Olmecs, converted into a treat by the Mayan’s and turned into wealth by the Aztecs. Cocoa beans have a significant history in regards to development of civilisation. Chocolate has over 600 flavour compounds that excite the brain.
Like with most delicious things in life, companies have capitalised on the cocoa bean, its industry and its workforces. Be sure to pick up cocoa products with the Fairtrade logo on them or check out some of the ethical chocolate companies looking to fairly pay cocoa farmer wages, encourage safe and renewable farming methods for cocoa farms and also want to eradicate child slave labour in more vulnerable provinces in different countries that grow cocoa beans.
